While I was at the Magnolia Silos in Waco, I saw a really cute accent firewood wall. It was on display in the store and Joanna had used an old fireplace mantle and filled the inside of the fireplace with slices of wood. I have a little nook on the side of my fireplace so I thought this little firewood accent wall would be perfect for that space. 

The first thing I did was gather my logs and cut them in to three inch pieces. I used a chop saw for this. And cutting all these uneven logs was a lot harder than I thought. I then made a faux wall that was the same size as the opening in the nook. I made sure to put a piece of wood behind it to support it. I then used a nail gun and nailed all the logs on from the back. When that was finished I stuffed some dried moss I picked up at the craft store in the little cracks between the logs.

And that’s it! I just slid it inside the nook. It was a pretty easy little craft and I love what it adds to my fireplace. Even though my fireplace is gas and doesn’t need logs… having the logs there makes the whole fireplace seem so much more cozy. You could also make a faux log wall to go inside the fireplace itself. Or take the idea that Joanna had and put the faux log wall inside an old wood mantle.
