My guest room is finished! When planning this room, I really wanted to create a unique and luxurious space for my guests. I started with the design for the headboard {tutorial here}. To feature the headboard, I knew I could do that by creating a feature wall behind it. I love working with trim boards so I followed the same steps I’ve used to create a board and batten wall. {tutorial here} I chose the colors black and gold to give a modern touch to balance out the rustic look of the reclaimed wood. Another thing I did was trim out the window and add some blackout curtains. I wanted floor to ceiling curtains for a more dramatic look. These can some times be difficult to find. I ended up finding these at Homegoods. IKEA is also a great place to find long curtains.
I spray painted an old galvanized steel chair gold, to match the more modern feel of the room. I threw a sheepskin from IKEA on top to make a cozy seating area. Those shelves add just a little space for makeup or jewelry the guests may have.

A small table or shelf (I debated building a table but decided that I’d rather my guests have more available floor space than a table, so instead I added a few shelves).

Tiny luxuries like a phone charger, water bottles, special lotions, a local treat, etc. Just a little special something so your guests know you were thinking about them.
