My husband has a bunch of these white t-shirts that he never wears… and I am always looking for long t-shirts… so I decided to steal one of them and up cycle it. As I was trying to decide what to write on it I thought of a Portuguese phrase “tudo bem” which means “it’s all good” I speak Portuguese from living in Brazil for a year and a half-I guess I should say, I spoke Portuguese, I have forgotten a lot of it but at least I will always remember tudo bem now 🙂

first: Trim off the collar and bottom hem. I cut the bottom with a curve. You can just leave those edges raw because it’s just a knit fabric and won’t fray.

second: Turn your t-shirt inside out and sew along the sides. I did a little bit of a curve so that the bottom wouldn’t be too fitted-just the sides a little. I just did a single stitch.

third: I cut a piece of freezer paper the size of a normal sheet of paper. I just put it in my regular printer and printed my words on the matte side of the freezer paper. Then cut out the letters with a matte knife.

 fourth: Turn your t-shirt right side out and iron on the freezer paper-shiny side down.

fifth: Stick a sheet of paper inside the shirt so the paint doesn’t bleed to the back and then paint your letters with fabric paint or regular acrylic paint.

 sixth: Peel off the freezer paper after it has dried.

seventh: I just rolled the sleeves and hand stitched them in a few places so that the fold would stay in place. That’s it! A personalized boxy tee for free!
