I love using cake stands and have quite the collection of DIY ones. Recently I have seen a lot of bowls like this with wood on the bottom and glass on top. So I decided to transition that concept in to a cake stand.
I bought the glass plate for a couple of dollars at Target and my husband cut this piece of wood from a 4×4. I then stained it a dark walnut color.
I then put some clear, strong, all purpose glue on the top of the wood piece and glued it to the bottom of the plate. So easy!
I used the cake stand for my three-year-old’s birthday cake. A delicious vanilla bean cake with white chocolate ganache and strawberries inside. Here is the recipe if you are curious 🙂 And I used gold cake plates I received from WholePort.
