PALLET NUMBER ART

I love working with pallets or old wood. I have seen some art with numbers on it-actually my good friend had one on her wall that she found at a thrift store-let’s just say I was a bit jealous so I had to make one for myself. I modified it a little to work with the wood I had.

I just used three pieces of wood from a pallet and cut them using a chop saw. To attach them in the back I simply nailed two scrap pieces of wood across the three pieces of wood. I painted it white and when it dried I sanded it to give it a distressed look. For the number, I took a sheet of 8×10 label paper (the kind that is one solid sheet) and printed a “5” on it. I then used a matte knife to cut out the 5 and then stuck the label paper on the pallet. The label paper acted as a stencil and so I just painted it with some black paint. When that dried I peeled off the label paper and then sanded down the 5 to distress it a little. I love little pieces of art that have a personal touch to them and remind me of things that are important to me like the 5 people that make up our little family.
